The four pictures below are part of this sci-fi graphic work that a friend and I are working on. I have had a mental block about what the character should look like and have recently settled on this one which takes me back to earlier illustrations I was doing around four years ago. They fascinate me and I enjoy drawing the face in a simple 'circle' with few lines and very little detailing.

The pictures below (from the bottom up) are product of two hours work - the first is more cartoonish and the second aims to try and sketch more then head and shoulders - the third and fourth are all about the narrative - a character awakes. I find it intimidating drawing the same character more then once (although you could argue my cats are exactly that - but it's something about the human form that throws me into torrents of insecurity and procrastination).

Anyway I must keep going because this work is part of a collaborative effort...

A new project - this is a mockup of a project that I'm working on at the moment with a friend. It's a sci-fi idea she writes and I draw.

The picture below was also created in Inkoid - the great thing is you can draw using the pencil and crayon tools and then copy the large image (the image in the main canvas) by taking a snapshot of the drawing and then upload it to your own blog. I've asked Angus if he can make an application where you can create your own drawn 'postcards' and then email to friends and family.

Digital pictures! This was drawn sometime last year on the drawing website Inkoid, created by Angus.

This is a couple of drawings that I did at work (in a break of course). They are what I call office doodles. These two lived on the front of my stationery box for approximately two years. I removed them recently as they are coming with me on my adventure into new 'employment'.

Well this is my first drawing for 2008 - for this blog. It's an Arctic Fox and I drew it as a farewell gift to a work colleague who loves Arctic Foxes.

2008 and no drawings yet - I seem to have got scared off by the leaf drawing (don't ask me why) - but it is only the second week in this new year and thus is a young year at present. I have been getting figurative ideas such as black and white line drawings of people with rosey cheeks. A common theme?

Anyway I am about to update this blog as I have been told that it is still using the old blogger system (what I thought???) and hence can't edit my links column anymore. I've opened this version in safari (as a reference) and am going to work in firefox - wish me luck.
